Ben Lager

Ben’s love for the people of Mexico began in the 1980s when he lived with a family in Cuernavaca while studying Spanish there.  Ben is a renaissance man.  He is a pharmacist by trade, a pianist, published author, a dedicated environmentalist and bicyclist, and constantly looks for ways to bring the light of Christ into the darkest areas of the world.

Ben also has a Masters degree in Sacred Scripture from St. John’s University in Minnesota, and served as a faculty member with the premier Denver Catholic Biblical School for ten years.  The video posted here shows the students from that school (2007) building homes in the same neighborhood of Juarez where the St. Jerome Mission is being built.

Ben has led over a dozen groups in house-building in Mexico and inner-city Denver.  The St. Jerome Mission is his most ambitious project so far.  He has assembled an experienced and talented Board of Directors to aid in this important work.
